Kundapur, Dec 14: After a truck and private bus got involved in an accident near Hemmady in the taluk on national highway 66 on Tuesday December 13, the truck driver suffered serious injuries.

The lorry driver, identified as Muhammed Ummer (55), suffered grave injuries to his right leg. After providing initial treatment at a private hospital here, he was taken to KMC Hospital Manipal as he was found to be in need of advanced treatment.

The private bus in question, which was carrying pilgrims from Belagavi, was moving to Dharmasthala. The Eicher truck that was heading towards Byndoor from the town moved to extreme right and hit the bus. Front portions of both the vehicles were badly damaged in the accident. Locals helped to admit the injured into hospital.

Bus driver, Kedarappa Y Angadi, and relief driver of the bus, Alla Baksh, suffered minor injuries. Conductor of the truck was not hurt. In a complaint filed in the traffic police station here, bus driver, Kedarappa said that recklessnessness and over speeding on the part of the truck driver had caused this accident.
