Puttur: Man commits suicide by consuming poison on riverbank

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Dec 24: The body of a man was found lying on a bed sheet on Netravati riverbank at Uppinangady in the taluk on Friday December 23. The victim was later identified as Ramesh (33) from Karminadka, Sarve village in the taluk.

Ramesh, who was not keeping good health of late, had left home on December 17 with some clothes. On Friday morning, his mortal remains were found lying on a bed sheet spread out near Vanabhojana Anjaneya temple at Uppinangady. A closer verification revealed that he had consumed poison and ended his life.

A death note found at the spot addressed to the district superintendent and MLA, contained some unfathomable things about people living in the neighbourhood and other parts of the village. Policemen said that the letter looked like having been written by a mentally unsound person, as it mentions unwarranted issues without touching the issue of death or problems which drove the deceased to take the decision to commit suicide.

On the basis of complaint filed by the brother of the deceased, Uppinangady police registered a case and began investigation.
