Mangaluru, Jan 7: Muslim community welcomed and served cold drinks and water at Masthikatte junction in Ullal on Friday January 6 to Hindu devotees who were walking on Horedibbana procession in view of Brahmakalashotsava in Ullalthi Dharma Arasara temple.

The Brahmakalashotsava and Dharma Nadavali festival are being celebrated from January 6 to January 12.

Ullal Umamaheshwari temple managing trustee A J Shekar set in motion the Horekanike procession that started at Jai Veeramaruthi gym near Thokkottu over bridge.

More than 1000 Hindus from temples and organizing activists in the district participated in the procession by walk and vehicles. More than 50 Muslims lovingly welcomed the procession at Masthikatte junction and served cold drinks and water to all those who were in the procession.

The rare moment sent an excellent message to the society in Ullal, which is known as a communally sensitive.

Former Ullal municipal council member Usman Kallapu who led the distribution of soft drinks said that both the communities live together in Ullal. “The distribution of soft drinks is a proof of it. It will be a lesson to a handful of people who disrupt peace in the vicinity. We were together in the past and will remain so in the future too,” he said.

Municipal council member Mustafa, local Fairoz, Adrama, Monu, Ahmed Bava Kottara and others distributed soft drinks.

This is the real face of Indians.

But we are getting divided by politicians for their gain, we Mangaloreans, being educated and smart, should neglect all the negative teaching spread by so called religious leaders and live in peace.

But what I don't understand is, for comments on peace also have disagrees! Maybe they are the reason to have communal disharmony.
    Long Live India! Jai Hind!

During my childhood, we had a Hindu (Shetty) and a Muslim neighbor. At least once in a week all three ladies of house used to have breakfast together. Sharing of food was very often. Going to each other's house was regular and all three families were always there for each other. I think it was a very common scene everywhere in undivided DK. In last 35-40 years everything is changed. We think we are more educated and modern. We think we are smart. We think we understand everything. But we are fooled by dirty politics and forgot humanity which is a common religion.`````

There is no discrimination between Hindu and Muslims, it is only created by Politicians for their gain. In fact both these communities have special regard to each other. This should be understood by the individuals and we will have better atmosphere.
