Mangalore, Feb. 6: A programme on 'Technology in education' was held here at the Government PU College at Car Street, on Tuesday, February 5.   

Speaking after the inauguration function the DIET teacher Gopinath furnished the information that computers have been provided to 54 government high schools in DK district under Mahithi Sindhu project of the government.

According to him more than 1,600 students are making use of the facility and 4,000 teachers are getting trained on the use of computer. In the second stage, computers will be supplied to 1,521 schools in the State, he added.

Moreover, Gopinath said that the syllabus here is taught through project-based learning method to the primary and high school students.

Also speaking on the occasion college principal P P Joseph pointed out that for many years, all the government schools were lacking basic facilities. However now the situation is changed and under various projects, government is providing facilities for quality education, he informed positively.
 
Corporator Mamatha Shenoy, District Teachers Training Institute (DTTI) principal Philomena Lobo, Prerana Club president Padmini and others were present. The highlight of the function was a power point presentation on ‘profit-loss,’ ‘Aids’ and uses of lens.
