Udupi, Feb 6: An unidentified youth was foun murdered and thrown in Sita river near Mabukala bridge of Brahmavar here on Monday Febraury 4. 

The murdered who is said to be in his early thirties was stabbed all over his body.  The locals as well as the police are of the opinion that he is not from the region and the sources said that he might have been murdered somewhere else and then thrown from the bridge.

The murder came to light when the driver of a LPG cylinder-laden truck noticed a dead body floating in the river.  He immediately got into the act and informed the police who arrived at the spot and fished out the body.

The police who failed to establish his identity however, found a mobile pouch in his pocket.  But there was no mobile phone in it.  Wrist watch worn by the murdered had stopped functioning at 10.30 pm suggesting that the murder might have taken place around 10.30 pm on Sunday February 3. 

Moreover, some toothpicks were found in his pocket which police said were suggesting that he might have had dined in a hotel or bar hours before he was murdered.  His dress code and appearance indicated that he was either hailing from a well-to-do family or was working for an established company/firm.

The Brahmavar police have registered a case in this regard and have initiated probe.
