M'lore: Light Music to Resonate at Nehru Maidan on Feb 16-17

Mangalore, Feb 15: Karnataka Sugama Sangeetha Parishat (KSSP) and DK district administration will jointly organize a two-day light music concert Geetotsava 2008 on Saturday February 16 and Sunday February 17 at Nehru Maidan here, informed Y K Muddu Krishna, president of KSSP at a press conference on Friday, February 15.

The convention will be inaugurated by Dr N S Lakshmi Narayana Bhat, well-known poet and chaired by B K Sumitra, noted veteran singer. Deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao will welcome the gathering. A souvenir will be released on the occasion by I M Vithal Murthy, secretary of Kannada and cultural department, he added.

D V Sadananda Gowda, MP, Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Sucharita Shetty, president of zilla panchayat, Dr C Somashekar, director of department of tourism, Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva's Educational Trust and V Lakshmi Narayana, managing director of Bangalore-based Nirman Shelters will be the chief guests, he added.

The concert will comprise a symposium and programmes such as Geeta Sankula, Haduvevu Navu, Anuranana, Hale Beru-Hosa Chiguru, Geeta Nrutya and Geeta Gayana, he said.

Karvali Kavya Vaibhava, Kanaka Namana, Chalana Chitradalli Kavi Geetegalu, Aikya Gana, Geeta Sangeeta, Hasya Geetegalu and Geeta Gayana will be held on February 17, he added.

Na Da Shetty, HOD of Kannada, St Aloysius First Grade College and others were present at the press conference.
