Mangalore Feb 17: The visit of Shri Mata Amruthanandamayi, popularly known as ‘Amma,’ to the city has created sensation among the people, on Sunday February 17 evening.

Thousands of devotees rushed to Boloor to have glimpse of ‘Amma’ on Sunday. Besides, hundreds of westerners were also present at the venue to listen to Amma. The district police had assigned four hundred additional policemen, in order to maintain the traffic, law and order situation in the vicinity of Boloor.

Amma, addressing the devotees, said that, it’s not worthwhile to go through unnecessary tensions in life which leads to several diseases.  Moreover, the tensions and worries can be kept in check, if we honestly attempt to find practical solutions for the cause which triggered the tension. Further, the tensions can be overcome, if we learn to surrender our trials and tribulations to the God, she emphasized.

Expressing concern on farmers’ death across the country, she stated that about Rs 200 crores worth of projects are  implemented by Shri Mata Amruthananda Math in Karnatataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Maharastra states. Around 30 thousand children come from peasant families are availing stipends under the project, she added.

Meanwhile, she distributed scholarships to 30 students in the same occasion.

Declaring a special project for women, she said that about 50 thousand Self-Help Groups will be formed consisting of 25 members each in the above stated four states. Math will provide vocational training to begin self employment ventures, she added.

Amma will be unveiling newly built ‘Brahmastana’ near Amrutha Vidyalaya at Boloor on Monday, February 18.

Mr. Sam, these foreigners came all the way from their homelands to be with Amma. Amma doesn't give any special privilege to them. In fact, Amma talks and spends Her whole time with Her Indian devotees. So, to give these foreigners atleast some solace, Amma lets them sit nearer to the stage.

I was just wondering why foreigners are always given special and separate place to sit during these prayer meetings. Are they more holier than us the poor Indians? Or is it necessary to put them there so that the world can see that their followers range from all over the world.
