Mangalore, Feb 21: School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya here will organize 'Spandana -Responding to Realities,' an annual national-level student social workers' symposium from Thursday February 21 to Saturday February 23, stated a press release.

The symposium aims at providing a common platform for the social workers across the country to enhance their knowledge and reflect upon the emerging trends in current issues.

Chandre Gowda, former state minister of law and parliamentary affairs will inaugurate the symposium on Friday February 22 at 10 am. K V R Tagore, IPS, ADGP and commissioner, department of information will be the chief guest while Dr Jacinta D'Souza, principal of the college will preside over the inaugural ceremony, stated the release.

The three-day event will witness delegates and participants from all over India. There will be social work related sessions by eminent persons, paper presentations and cultural events during the course of the event. The event will also serve as a platform for different NGOs from in and around the city to exhibit products made by them.

The valedictory will be held on February 23 for which Dr Ruth Manorama, social activist and Right Livelihood awardee will be the guest of honour and Sunder Naik, registrar of Mangalore University will be the chief guest while Dr Jacinta D'Souza will preside, stated the release.
