Kerala: Youngsters corner cops over moral policing, go live on Facebook

Daijiworld Media Network - Thiruvananthapuram (SP)

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 22: The local police took into custody two youngsters from Napier Museum premises here on Tuesday February 21. The men in uniform also charged the young man and his female friend of indecent behaviour and vulgar conduct.

The duo, identified as Vishnu and his girl friend, who insisted that they had done nothing wrong in the eyes of law, stood their ground and chose to go live on Facebook. They insisted the two female police constables and a male constable to spell out what was the indecent act they were found indulging in. The police personnel were found groping for answers, unable to give any reasons for the detention of the duo or say what was the offence they were held for.

The video posted by Vishnu on Facebook is spreading far and wide, with over 65,000 views within a few hours since it was posted. In the Facebook post, Vishnu can be seen seeking to know from the police what exactly was the incident they saw involving him and his friend that they have branded as vulgar and indecent. One of the female cops can be seen thinking for a while before saying that the two were found hugging and kissing. Vishnu is seen firmly telling the cops that they cannot be led to the police station without at least another person from the premises who can vouch for what wrong they had done which the police term as unlawful.

The cops then come up with another statement that the girl can be allowed to go only with her parents, to which the girl retorts by pointing out that she is 23. She also wants to know from them what would they do if she was an orphan. The police personnel can be seen reiterating that the couple was indecent, but Vishnu keeps insisting that they were only sitting together with his hand over her shoulder. He can be heard stressing that this does not fall under the purview of either indecent or vulgar behaviour.

Kerala police are known to try their hands at moral policing frequently. The youngsters involved this time tried to prove that they were not wrong, by resorting to air the happenings through Facebook and show to the world how Kerala police behave. There have been incidents in the past in which the police have taken young people into custody for things which they feel are indecent, without caring for what the law says. Often the youngsters are brutally beaten up or taught a lesson for offences which the police feel are indecent, without bothering to check whether the offence is is punishable in the eyes of law.

There are two police forces working in parallel in India after PM Modi's government elected power. One takes salaries from government and another takes orders from Nagpur parliament of RSS.

Unfortunately some police personnel are on the payroll of sangh parivar working for the RSS rather than law and order of the state.

In other hand BJP which which tastes the success in UP in last Lok Sabha elections using 'Love Jihad' is replicating all over India using administrative powers.

    Sachidanad,
One of the fantastic experience which I had in Dubai is living with Keralites. I was staying in a villa sharing. In that entire compound, there were more than 14Keralite families hindus, muslims, christians. All had one thing in common is malyalam language. All were very cordial. Before going to Kerala for holidays, they used to come to all other families and tell them, they are leaving to Kerala and vice versa. No burqa issue, no hizam issue , all were communicating in malyalam and good understanding with each other.

It was a beautiful experience for me.

The article and the video clip is a totally mismatch. There is no police station. Two lady constables are merely standing next to the couple. All the dialogues are uttered by the man.

Shibu baba, our CM is a great person who takes care of his wife and family unlike politicians who desert their wife in old age and cry in public fooling people they sacrificed everything for the nation and tour round the world on public money. Our CM is a true leader. He deserves salutes.

Moral Policing by anti social elements should be banned. Police has some duty to be done and let them do it. But dont allow goondas of political parties to take law in their hands.

Well done by these young boy and girls. Unfortunately the laws are for the poor, less priviledged. If the same act would have done by rich, powerful people, then the police will call it socializing.

In our country, whatever socializing act one will do with the opposite sex, it is either branded as culturally wrong, indecent etc etc. But the same officials, at night, some of them might in the bars, dance club, centres etc because they have power.
