Bantwal, Apr 13: Marriages they say are made in heaven, but the marriage ceremony itself is no longer region or country specific. This became a reality for the people of Dakshina Kannada and neighbouring districts when they gathered to bless a couple Indian Pushpak Nayak and a foreigner Helen at the auditorium of hotel Krishna Classic at BC Road near here on Friday April 11.

For Helen, a British citizen the marriage ceremony was special. Although she was not familiar with Hindu customs and traditions, but this did not deter the young bride from following and reciting back the slokas, mantras - the typical Hindu rituals and the instructions chanted  by the pundits and purohits at the auditorium.

Pushpak Nayak and Helen entered into holy wedlock in the presence of Helen's parents according to traditional Kalyana Mantapa, Gowda Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) marriage rituals and customs.  From the groom's side Dr Prakash Nayak and Kumuda Nayak, parents of Pushpak Nayak have been living in London since the past 30 years. Pushpak Nayak is presently pursuing his medical IT in London.

According to inside sources the couple met and fell in love and fortunately their dalliance finally culminated in this marriage ceremony as per Hindu custom. This is a second marriage in a row in recent times in which foreigners have tied the knot in traditional Hindu ceremony.

One can't really comment as to which form of marriage is complete and which is not as I feel that a good marriage is not about the tradition is which you get married but Is the compatability between a couple.
