Moodbidri: New building of Prajna’s ‘Fit Institution for Girls’ inaugurated

Moodbidri, Aug 3: A new building of Prajna Counselling Centre’s ‘Fit Institution for Girls’ was inaugurated at Murkoth Palke, near Souharda Nagara, Belvai, Moodbidri on July 31.

Ralf Tepel, executive director, Karl Kubel Stiftung of Germany, inaugurated the new building in the presence of deputy commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha, Bhasker Acharya, president, Belvai gram panchayat; Sundar Poojary, deputy director of the Women and Child Development Department, Dakshina Kannada; Eric Correa, founder of Souharda Trust; Suhas Nair, monitoring officer, Karl Kubel Foundation, Coimbatore; Usman, District Child Welfare Protection Officer and Prof Hilda Rayappan, founder and director of Prajna Counselling Centre.

Tepel, after the inauguration, spoke about Karl Kubel (KKS) Stiftung and their commitment towards social development. “We is focusing more on the empowerment of women and children throughout the world, particularly in India. KKS obtained funds for this building project of Prajna from the government of Germany,” he said.

DC Dr Jagadeesha his keynote address motivated children to have realistic goals in their life and work hard towards achieving those goals. He said, “An Institution or person can provide you with maximum support, but it cannot be 100%. Hence, children have to make their own contribution and come up in life.”

Bhaskar Achayra in his address congratulated Prajna Counselling Centre for setting up such wonderful building for children. He said he was happy that it is situated in his panchayat constituency. He promised to render full support in coming days.

Sundar Poojary explained about various government schemes and facilities available for children. He congratulated Prajna Counselling Centre for constructing a child friendly home with all facilities.

Eric Correa said he was happy that the land donated by him to Prajna, was being used for a good cause and that many children are going to benefit by the same.

Suhas Nair said that Prajna and KKID have jointly taken up many projects and Prajna is sincerely working for the betterment of women and children. He informed that KKID has been associated with Prajna from past eight years and the collaboration would continue in future.

Prof Hilda Rayppan proposed the vote of thanks. Prajna, an inmate of the Fit institution studying in second year PUC, compered the programme.

The Fit Institution for Girls, being managed on behalf of the Women and Child Development Department, was earlier managed in a rented building at Marnamikatta. Prajna Counselling Centre is a well known NGO, popular for its dedicated work towards empowerment of women and children. Its vision is to help the poor and marginalized women and children to liberate them from violence and help men and women to live in harmony.
