M'luru: Higher primary, high school Taluk level athletic meet to be on Oct 1,2

Mangaluru, Sep 30: Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat and department of public instruction, in association with Mangaluru North and Maryvale High School, Kinnigoli, will hold higher primary and high school level Taluk athletic meet on October 1 and 2, at Mangala Stadium, here.

On October 1, MLA Abhaychnadra Jain will inaugurate the programme. MLA J R Lobo will preside over the programme. MLC Ivan D'Souza will hand over the torch to the athletes. Vote of thanks will be delivered by MLC capt Ganesh Karnik. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will hoist the flag.

On October 2, president of Kinnigoli gram panchayat, Philomena Sequeira, will  preside over the programme. Physical Education Inspector Raghunath, principal of St Theresa's School Sr M Pramitha, Durga Parameshwari Temple trustee Sanath Kumar, KH Nayak, and Harish Rai will be present as chief guests.

The higher primary school events will include 100, 200, 400, 600-metre race, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus throw, 80-metre hurdles and 4*100-metre relay.

The high school category events are as follows 100, 200, 400, 800, 1,500, and 3,000-metre race, five-km walk, high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, hammer throw, pole vault, and 4*100-metre relay.
