Madikeri: Youth in family's company murdered by unknown assailants

Madikeri, Oct 2: A youth who was walking with the members of his family to witness the Dasara procession here was murdered in the town. The incident happened at about 3 am on Sunday October 1, when the youth was part of a huge crowd that was watching the procession.

The youth who lost his life in this unfortunate incident was Chandrashekhar (25), resident of Rajeshwari Nagar here.

Chandrashekhar, along with his family, was walking to see the grandeur of the procession. When he was a few steps ahead of his family near Goddess Kannika Parameshwari temple at Mahadevapet here, he suddenly collapsed to the ground and a pool of blood got formed around his body immediately. The police who were called to the spot found that the youth had died out of profuse bleeding.

A closer examination revealed a stab injury mark in the back of his ear. Prima facie, Chandrashekhar was killed by miscreants although purpose of murder and identify of murderers are not yet known. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem. The family which was in jubilant mood on account of Dasara has now plunged into the abyss of grief.

Police of the town station here, who have registered a case, are investigating.
