Mangaluru: Huli Vesha troupe praying at Dargah - Exemplary custom promoting religious harmony

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Oct 3: Traditions and customs which go to further boost the confidence and trust of the people are always welcome. If customs can promote and cement communal harmony, nothing can be better than that.

Kudroli Shiva Friends troupe of tiger dancers has been following the custom of offering prayers inside the Dargah before beginning their Navaratri performances. This is one of the few customs which reinforces communal harmony between people from different communities and religions and one feels that more such customs will help further boost harmonious relationship.

Shiva Friends troupe has been offering prayers at Hazarat Sayyid Roshan Shah Waliullahi Dargah at Kudroli since the last 23 years before their annual tiger dance performances.

This Dargah is frequented by people of all religions, and special prayers are offered on every Thursday and also once a month. People offer lamps, scented sticks, jasmine flowers etc in the form of offering.

The said team visits Mahammayi and Ajjanakatte before visiting the Dargah. President of 'Shiva Friends', Umanath Shettigar, appreciates the support and cooperation extended by the Dargah management and says that during the annual Uroos at the Dargah, he and his friends reciprocate this gesture by extending cooperation.

I am a Hindu ..and I don't hesitate to visit non hindu religious places like Dargah ,Mosque or church ..
I feel the same energy and silence in all places of worship .
We fight for petty issues ..though the words are different the underlying meaning is the same in all religious beliefs ..
The issue starts when one thinks that my religion is better than the others ....These sort of thinking is often implanted by the Mullah, clergy and priests to have a political control over you.

Great example. Curious to know who they pray to - the Universal God Almighty (by whatever name He is addressed - Yahweh, Allah, Jesus, or the Hindu Trinity/ kula deva? Or is it just for a show and vesha,

Very good initiative towards communal harmony...
Can we again achieve the world order prior to 1980...???
Where religion was respected and humanity was at its best...
People had very little extra show and extra ego...
I hope human humility and mutual respect will return...
If not in the world at least in our own Tulunadu....
We can then be splendid example for world to follow...
