Moodbidri, Oct 4: Thieves entered a house located near Kana Road in Bannadka, Padumarnadu village near here, on the night of Monday October 2 and decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 3.5 lac.

The house in question belongs to Subodh Shetty, a driver by profession. Shetty along with his wife and children were sleeping in a room of the house. Cash and ornaments were kept in the almirah kept in the adjacent room.

The thieves who entered the house, used the key of the almirah that was kept near the almirah to open it. They took away Rs 16,000 in cash and ornaments worth Rs 3.34 lac from the almirah before escaping through the rear door.

It was found that the thieves used a long stick found in the back of the said house to insert it through the window of the kitchen and slide the bolt of the rear door. The family came to know of the theft on waking up in the morning. After the police were informed, sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts conducted verification. Police personnel of the town station here are investigating.
