Puttur, Oct 5: Fr Eldo Puttan Kandathil has been appointed as the new vicar general of Puttur diocese under Syro-Malankara church. Fr Eldo Puttan Kandathil hails from Kodancheri in Kerala.

At a function organized at St Mary's Cathedral, Noojibalthila near here, Bishop of the diocese, Dr Geevarghese Mar Macarios, administered oath to the new vicar general on Wednesday October 4.

Fr Eldo Puttan Kandathil, who was the proto vicar of Shivamogga civil district, happens to be the principal of St Tomas PU College, Byndoor. He also has been serving as visiting professor of major seminary at Thiruvananthapuram since the last 25 years. He has secured his doctorate from Gregorian University Rome.

Fr Eldo Puttan Kandathil has served in various capacities like vicar general of Bathery diocese, priest of various churches, director general of Shreyas social service organization in Bathery diocese, professor of Pulpalli college in Kerala, and various other posts.
