Bengaluru: Liquor baron's grandson gets easy bail as drugs found in car, not on person

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Oct 5 : The First APMM Court on Wednesday granted bail to Geetha Vishnu, the grandson of liquor baron and former MP late D K Adikesavulu, whose SUV was involved in an accident and later the police found marijuana in it.

The court granted conditional bail to Vishnu upon furnishing two sureties and bond of Rs 25,000 and asked him to appear before the investigating officers whenever required.

On September 27, Vishnu had rammed his SUV into a Maruti Omni van near South End Circle injuring six people. Police allegedly found marijuana in his car.

A case was registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Vishnu was admitted to Mallya hospital. On September 29 morning, he had escaped from the hospital.

He later surrendered to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Tuesday evening.

Though the prosecutor sought Vishnu’s police custody stating the accused was involved in multiple cases, the defence lawyer argued that Vishnu was booked under the bailable sections of the CrPC and that his client had no knowledge about the presence of marijuana in his car.

There were four cases registered against Vishnu. The primary case is road accident, which is a bailable offence. Escaping from police custody is also a bailable offence, depending on the primary case and the extent of criminal conspiracy involved. Damage to property is only a finable offence. He needed bail for the case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

The argument in court was tricky and Vishnu managed to get bail as the drugs were seized from car and not on his person, says an investigative officer.

Meanwhile, police sources say that they are confident that Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report will be positive. Blood and urine samples taken from the accused on September 28 were within 12 hours of the accident were sent to FSL for tests. Since there were four consecutive holidays till Monday, the samples were sent to FSL only on Tuesday and the report is yet to be out, says a police source.

He adds that eyewitnesses have also told police that the driver was intoxicated.

The CCB officials have summoned Vishnu on Thursday for investigation.

Thank God he was bailed out quickly.

Normally for rich and influential peoples blood samples will be collected after 28 HRS since they would given free escape and re-arrest later.
First : Free escape from police custody is bailable.
Second: After 28 HRS blood samples nothing can be found.
    Case puska.

Exactly!!!! One for the rich & one for the poor. He'll escape as he's Liquor Baron's grandson & also son of Late MP. What about the poor? If poor was a victim in this case, then poor guy would have been registered for more than 50 cases thereby making him suffer for lifetime. "Mera Bharath Mahaan.
