Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Oct 6: Saumya (27), daughter of Krishnappa Poojary, resident of Aratige in Haleneranki village near Kadaba, ended her life on the evening of Wednesday October 4.

Saumya was found writhing in pain on Wednesday afternoon. The family members found out that she had consumed acid in a bid to end her life. Immediately she was rushed to a private hospital in the town and then to Mangaluru for advanced treatment. But Saumya did not show recovery symptoms and breathed her last.

In a complaint filed in Kadaba police station, father of the lady, Krishnappa Poojary, stated that his daughter was frustrated and depressed at the fact that efforts made and alliances tried relating to her marriage had not become fruitful so far.

Saumya has left behind parents, two sisters, and a brother.

Girls are not allowed to get married as per their choice. Community pressures. At the same time their respective community does not lift a little finger to help such families. Mostly happens if the families are not financially sound.

Why so many suicide, murders, accidents, hate crimes especially in the beautiful, clean, quite, people developed DK.
When was little boy and visited my native place (in the age of letters, telegram and goli bhajiyas), I would never hear of a funeral of any elderly person, but today when we read the news, it's so common about all these types of deaths.
Our DK needs Prayers,if not it will effect our future generations

@Steven Menezes, shirva,Prayers self doesnt help.but girls education and help her to work might brighten the situation ,instead of having a girl at home wating to find a boy ,specially by Hindus,of not good situated ones is better.By them is a big question of asking a heavy sum of money in form of gold as dowry makes still worse.Nowadays boys prefer working girls ,smart, beutiful with lot of dowry.who can afford it unless one is rich?sad.sometimes as I personally came to know in neighbourhood ,neighbours too try to make problems when someone comes to see the girl.heartfelt sympathy to the parents.may her soul rest in peace. It was not a good act of committing suecide ,could have waited for some time,or without marraige also can one lead a life.
