Udupi: Foundation stone for Brahmavar Diocesan Centre laid at Kankanady

Udupi, Oct 6: The foundation stone for Brahmavar Diocesan Centre at Kankanady, Mangaluru, was laid on Thursday, October 5, by the supreme head of the Malankara Orthodox Church, Catholicos H H Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, in the presence of H G Zachariah Mar Anthonios, Metropolitan - Kollam diocese, the diocesan metropolitan, H G Yakob Mar Elias, MLA J R and other dignitaries.

The centre will be built in international standards with a church at the top, and the bishop's office, dormitories, guest rooms, and other offices in the lower floors.

Baselios Marthoma Paulose II led the prayers and consecrated the foundation stone. The event concluded with a formal stage function. He said, “Though Brahmavar diocese is one of the most poor and has demographically less number of people, it is vibrant with mixture of various cultures and languages within the diocese. There is no doubt, that the project will be completed at the earliest.”

MLA J R Lobo expressed that there is a greater need for unity among all denominations, in the wake of growing threats and persecutions.

Fr Kuriakose Thomas (Sunil Achen), diocesan secretary welcomed the gathering and Fr V C Jose rendered the vote of thanks.

Anthonios and many other dignitaries which include members of MOSC council were present.
