Mangaluru, Oct 24: A tiled house belonging to Purushotham from Kavoor Bolpugudde in the city turned into ashes on the night of Sunday October 22. The loss in this incident has been put at three lac rupees.

After the family members went to bed on Sunday night, electricity supply got severed. Head of the family, Purushotham, suddenly woke up at that time. He ventured out of the house and heard the sound made by powerful electric sparks. He immediately alerted the others and rushed out to the courtyard with them.

By then flames had engulfed the house. Locals helped the family in controlling the fire. Fire brigade personnel later reached the spot and doused the fire completely.

A case about the incident was registered in Kavoor police station. City mayor, Kavita Sanil, visited the family and consoled them. She assured to put in efforts to see that the family receives maximum compensation from the government.
