Sindhu hits out at airline staff for 'rude' behaviour

New Delhi, Nov 4 (PTI): Olympic silver medallist shuttler PV Sindhu today accused an Indigo airline ground staff of misbehaving with her while travelling from Hyderabad to Mumbai, calling it a very bad experience.

World number two Sindhu claimed that the staff behaved rudely with her and an air hostess intervened to advise him against doing so.

"Ground staff (skipper) Mr Ajeetesh behaved very badly and rudely with me. When the air hostess Ms. Ashima tried to advise him to behave properly with the passenger (me), but to my surprise he behaved very rudely with her. If these type of people work for a reputed airline like Indigo they will spoil their reputation," Sindhu wrote on her twitter handle.

The champion shuttler added, "Sorry to say ..I had a very bad experience??when I was flying by 6E 608 flight to Bombay on 4th nov the ground staff by name Mr Ajeetesh."

The airline is yet to respond to the accusations made by Sindhu.

The ground staff apparently objected to her carrying her kit-bag which had her racquets inside it. She normally carries them as hand luggage.

It was learnt that the staffer told her to get rid of her kit-bag very rudely.

Sindhu's father was also traveling with her.

"The ground staff misbehaved with Sindhu while handling her kit bag. Sindhu had requested him to handle it with care as there were racquets inside. But the person behaved rudely.

"The air hostess tried to interfere but he was also rude to her. One should not behave with a lady like that, so Sindhu tweeted. She was hurt," Sindhu's father Ramanna told PTI.

Sindhu is one of the country's most celebrated sportspersons having won an Olympic silver medal besides bagging three World Championship medals.

The ground staff in India do not realize how important it is to handle hand luggage, only people who carry expensive stuff know the pain when things are damaged due to the way they close the overhead luggage door or just been told cannot allow it as hand luggage and they do not want to take any responsibility of the item inside. As photographer I carry all my cameras and lenses in the handbag and sure other photographers agree how expensive the gear is and what you go through, when people don't understand the value of the items, same applies to the sports persons and musicians. A regular traveler can never understand the pain a professionals go through when these airline people fail to understand the value of the item and just argue with you instead of assisting you and on the contrary when a well know businessman or politician who is traveling in the same class as you even with just a simple plastic bag is treated like he is carrying CRYSTAL GLASS. So if you do not know the value of the item please refrain from commenting .

It is usual for most working with banks, airlines or in LIC, add with staff in Govt. employees, assume they are the bosses of people. Actually, they are supposed to serve the people with dignity and respect.

It is time, these kind of people are ridden off as there are millions of well deserving youths, who can do better job.

Sindhu has brought glory to India but it doesn't mean that she breaks rules for her convenience. If the airline staff was correct in carrying out his duty, the sports person must respect it.

A bag containing rackets can surely bigger than the cabin compartments' size. She should have understood it forehand than creating a scene out of all this.

When a person gains little name and fame, he/she makes petty issues into a big issue. This type of incidents have happened with me when I was travelling by many air lines. When we are at fault, should not show our power on poor people who are discharging their duties.
