Bengaluru, Nov 5: The state government is planning to introduce 'good morning beat' system in the state on the occasion of Tipu Jayanti, with the view of efficiently having control over law and order situation. It is said that the police department decided to implement this system after the chief minister held meeting with senior police officers relating to law and order situation in the state.

The government, it is said, wants to have close watch on religious places and senstive areas through this system. Senior officials in the department said that the system, which will be introduced during Tipu Jayanti being celebrated on November 10, will continue to be in operation thereafter.

The current system of 'morning beat' is being introduced with some changes as 'good morning beat', the officials said. Staff designated for night patrol including Hoysala and Cheetah vehicles, will visit designated spots and take suitable steps as may be necessary to maintain control over law and order situation.

Under this scheme, sensitive areas and religious places have been identified in all the districts. Officials on night patrol and other officials have to sign the point books maintained at these spots. They also need to keep in touch with people of certain areas either directly or through social sites continuously. They also have to keep communicating with locals through WhatsApp.

As Tipu Jayanti is a government programme, no public programme, march past, rallies etc will be permitted. The station house officers should organize meetings with local leaders to educate them. Security should beefed up in different areas, particularly Mohallas. CCTV cameras will be in place and contingents of para military and armed reserve police etc will be deployed and senior officials will be on duty at sensitive areas, explained additional director general of police (law and oder), Kamal Panth.
