Mangalore, Jul 13: Karavali Karnataka Janaabhivriddhi Vedike has organized 'Nilae,' an exhibition of photographs from the area earmarked for the Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ), including the places of Tuluva cultural and religious significance, on Sunday July 13 afternoon, at Corporation Bank Officers Organization (CBOO) auditorium, Kodialbail, here.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Sri Raghaveshvara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math, Hosanagar. Dakshina Kannada (DK) district Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura was also present.

The setting up of MSEZ in the coastal district threatens several religious centers of Tulu Nadu to become history. The exhibition is an attempt to create awareness on the worship centers of the land.

Beautiful photographs that should turn even the stone hearted SEZ officials hearts to think how they could term this land as vacant and barren just to get their approvals! Did they come to see the exhibition? But all congratulations and praise to the organisers of 'Nile'.

MSEZ and PCPIR are death knell especially for the unique Tulu culture. Govt-after-govt treat the coastal belt with contempt. They call these dry lands. Unfortunately for us, most of our elected leaders trade themselves cheaply once they crossed the Ghats to Bangalore.

We can either remain sacrificial lambs in the hands of the gowdas etc or find a way to live with our minds without fear and heads held high. The time has come to demand for a "separate statehood" for our region. We need to be ready for sacrifice as only the sound of agitation is heard in this world!!!!

Mr.Joel, Development means not building a factory and appointing people in it. Do u mean daily bread is MONEY? What will you eat when you have enough money? MSEZ is not the solution, but it is a starting point of problems. You seem to be not a frequent visitor to Mangalore.

Visit MRPL surroundings for an example. How many places you find oil seepages. We have the same problems when we are residing in Permude. We miss that greenery around our area.We miss small ferries. Govt. must look into this issues and relocate all these SEZs to some areas where there are no green belt.

If all of know our soil's worth, we will not welcome MSEZ. Let us join together to raise our voice agaist the MSEZ. Greedy people are playing with the sentiments of the needy people thereby building palaces on poorman's huts.
