Mangaluru, Dec 28: Mayor Kavita Sanil said that the roads in the corporation limits will be repaired on priority basis. The Mayor was speaking in a monthly phone-in programme held in Mayor's office on December 27. She asked corporation officials to take up the work on priority.

Answering questions raised by people, she assured that inner roads will be developed and officials are already working on them. Anegundi resident Bhasker complained that Bejai Anegundi fourth cross road has too many pot holes and traffic is difficult. Alape, Padil resident Sulaiman said that a road near railway track is dangerous for vehicles. Arun from Landlinks said that the road to Helipad is completely damaged and urged for its repairs. Another caller from Perlaguri explained about the bad condition of road in Perlaguri limits.

Divya from Vamanjoor complained that a dirty stink and mosquito menace is caused from a drainage in front of their house as the lid of the chamber is not closed.

Vijay from Kulshekar raised the concern that their area is dark for the last several days as a street light in not reconnected. Mohammed Jameer complained that cars registered from other states are illegally parked near Highland hospital. G K Bhat said that plastic menace has crossed limits and unauthorized shops are running in some parts of buildings. Mayor assured of suitable action in all the cases.

Mohammed Sherif from Kannur said that there is no way to some houses in Kundalagudde limits and the corporation has not spent even a rupee. Mayor assured that officials will be sent there and suitable action will be taken. “There are several problems in Kavoor where five roads meet. Therefore policemen should be deployed and new water pipe should be installed,” urged a woman.

Sujatha Hegde said that there are attempts to close the lake the near Kottara Subramanya and drainage water is being flown to it. She urged not to close the lake and instead provide a alternative source of water to nearby residents. Mayor assured that the lake will not be closed as she has come to know that the lake belongs to private people.

Abdul from Bunder said that the corporation has not shown interest to close a large pit near Rao and Rao circle. Mayor said that she has seen the place and found that it is difficult to close it as several cables pass through it. She assured that it will be closed after shifting the cables elsewhere and the process will be over in a week.

A person said that he had complained a month ago that a street light near Balmatta Swagat hotel is not lighting but the problem is not solved. The mayor asked the commissioner to issue a notice to concerned officer.

Deputy mayor Rajneesh, chief whip Shashidhar Hegde, standing committee president Abdul Raof, Sabitha Misquith and Commissioner Mohammed Nazeer were present.
