Mangaluru: Three-day Panambur Beach Utsav to be held from Dec 29

Mangaluru, Dec 29: “As a part of Karavali Utsav 2017, a three-day beach festival will be held from December 29 at Panambur beach,” informed Yathish Baikampady, president, Beach Utsav Committee, in a press meet on Thursday, December 28.

“The Beach Utsav will start on December 29 at 9:30 am with tournaments of beach volleyball and throwball. The formal inauguration will be held at 4:30 pm. Deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil will inaugurate the 3-day festival. Various dance and singing competitions will be held in connection with Utsav.

“The Utsav includes food festival and cultural festival. Special arrangements have been made for New Year celebration on December 31. People can celebrate New Year till 12:30 am on that day.

“The police department will take all safety measures. As many as 200 police personnel will be deputed at the beach itself. CCTV cameras also have been installed at various places to monitor the crowd. The district administration is expecting a crowd of 50,000 to 60,000 people to attend the 3-day festival,” he said.
