Puttur: Assault on KSRTC driver by private bus staff - second accused held

Puttur, Jan 4: In connection with the incident in which staff of a private bus had beaten up the driver of a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), the city police here have arrested the second accused. The arrested person is Dhananjay (32), resident of Patla near Nehru Nagar here.

KSRTC driver, Ramakrishna Shanbhogue (35) had been attacked on Friday night near Nehru Nagar. Joy from Nelyady, driver of a private contract carriage bus, who was the other accused in this incident is arrested already. It is alleged that Joy and three others reportedly followed the KSRTC bus coming to the town from State Bank, Mangaluru, overtook it near Nehru Nagar, pulled out its driver, Ramakrishna Shanbhogue and beat him up.

The operation to arrest Dhananjay was led by town station police sub-inspector, Ajey Kumar. Dhananjay has been remanded to judicial custody whereas the first accused,joy, has secured bail through the court.
