Kundapur, Jan 5: Villagers here held protests in Kamalashile temple auditorium urging to consider Hallihole and Kamalashile villages as part of Kundapur.

Shankernarayana taluk campaign committee convener Chitte Rajagopal Hegde said that they have no objection in creation of Byndoor taluk. “But it will be unjust for villagers if Hallihole village is not retained in Kundapur, because it is viable to travel 81 kilometers far to Byndoor to deal with work connected to the revenue department. It will take nearly a day for such work there. Our villages once included in Byndoor taluk will not be considered in Shankernarayana taluk later. Politicians do not need your votes. It is their plus point in Byndoor. We will have to answer them only through violent protests. If one village is left out of 26 villages, there will be no harm. We urge that Hallihole village should be left out from Byndoor taluk,” he said.

Shankernarayana Yadiyala speaking on behalf of villagers said they have submitted a request to elected representatives and officials to retain Hallihole as part of Kundapur taluk. “However, we have not indulged in large scale protests. The campaign has reached concluding stage now, and we are prepared for large scale protests. We should meet the chief minister who will arrive in Byndoor on January 8, submit our petition and exert pressure. We should also speak to MLA Gopala Poojary about it,” he said.

Hallihole gram panchayat member Madhava Shenoy said that a decision on the same issue has been taken in the special general meeting of Hallihole grama panchayat. “A decision will be taken after requesting for and arranging another special meeting,” he said.

“Though taluk should be formed for the convenience of people, the present elected representatives are using it to meet political ends. People here would have benefited if Shankernarayana taluk was formed. But unnecessary places are included in taluks meeting out injustice to people. Hallihole village is being unjustly combined in Byndoor instead of Kundapur for politics,” alleged Shankernarayana taluk campaign committee president Rathnaker Shetty.

Elected representatives Dinesh Yadiyal and Amar Chatra expressed their opinions.

Pradeep Yadiyal, Hallihole gramavannu Kundapur talukinalli ulisi campaign committee president Chakresh Yadiyal, secretary Ganapathi Chatra and others were present.

Advocate Gurumoorthi welcomed and compered the meeting.
