Udupi: Raghupati Bhat condemns state government, DC over various issues

Udupi, Jan 8: Former MLA Raghupati Bhat on January 6 said that deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis was not carrying out her responsibilities fairly. He also condemned the Congress government in the state for various reasons.

Addressing media, he said, “A hospital of a leading businessman was inaugurated without obtaining the completion certificate from the city municipality council. Tenders are not being called for many construction works.

"According to the standard procedure, the tender process should be completed before handing over the project for construction to the contractor and then only the chief minister (CM) should lay the foundation stone.

"The third phase construction work of jetty was completed three years ago by grants from the central government. But the project is being inaugurated now, which does not seem to be correct. I request that they should not do the inauguration of projects for which the tender process is not completed.

"Flex and banners of Congress party are being displayed in Udupi, though it is a government programme. The BJP opposes this kind of advertisement. Many government officials are expected to participate in the public programme, led by the district administration. The deputy commissioner should be unbiased in this convention.

“Foundation stone laying ceremony for Morarji Desai pre-university residential college at Aruru, Brahmavar was completed earlier. Ironically they are doing the ceremony once again.

"Bringing water from Varahi to Udupi is impossible in the midst of public objections. No discussion is conducted in this regard to get an opinion from the local public. Is it practically possible? There is a need to review the plan again."

"The Congress politicians have pressurized the government officers to gather a huge crowd for the meeting of CM Siddaramaiah. So the concerned department made it mandatory for college students to participate in this programme and has instructed them to wear colour dress. All these are done only because they know that it is difficult to arrange a huge crowd for the CM programme. But is it correct to issue mandatory orders of this nature?

"None of the Congress party leaders should criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi or BJP or JDS leaders in such public programme. BJP will not object to a peaceful programme of the CM. If the Congress party leaders resort to ill-talking about our party, BJP will oppose the same and hold a protest against them," he said.
