Puttur: Union ministers, Javadekar, Hegde to visit city on Jan 12

Puttur, Jan 9: Union ministers, Prakash Javadekar and Anant Kumar Hegde are expected to take part in the inaugural of Grama Vikasa convention and PMVY free technical training programme being held at Vivekananda College here on January 12 on account of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Union minister for human resources development, Prakash Javadekar, will inaugurate Vivekananda Jayanti programme at 10 am that day. Union minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship, Anant Kumar Hegde, will inaugurate technical training. Senior Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Seetaram Kedilaya, will deliver the keynote address. MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, will participate as chief guest, said president of Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha here, Dr Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka, addressing a press conference on Monday January 8.

"We have been celebrating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda here in a unique way every year. Vidyavardhaka Sangha has already adopted Kodippady village in the taluk and has been organizing different programmes there. Students are also being deputed to 33 villages to undertake field visits and studies. People from all these villages will attend the programme. After the meeting, Grama Vikasa interaction will take place at 12 pm at Vivekananda Degree College. RSS leader, Gururaj, will be resource person at this programme. RSS south-central regional Seva Pramukh, Gopal Chettiar, will be honorary guest of the programme," he explained.

"Students of Vivekananda Group of education institutions will present a programme of songs and dances followed by Yakshagana episode, 'Shambhavi Vilasa', which will be presented by 'Yaksharanjini Kala Sangha' of Vivekananda College."

Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha secretary, Dr K M Krishna Bhat and head of the department of journalism, Rakesh Kumar Kammaje, were present at the press conference.
