Udupi: Man climbs electric pole, gets electrocuted

Udupi, Jan 10: In an incident which happened near Giri Bar in Kolalagiri in Uppoor village on Tuesday January 9 morning, a person who climbed up an electric pole died of electric shock.

The deceased was Ganesh (37) from Muggeri Road, Havanje. He went up an electric pole and held the live high tension powerline passing above in his hand. He instantly got electrocuted, fell down and was found to have died on the spot.

A case about this unnatural death was registered at Brahmavar police station. There is no information as to why he climbed up the pole, whether he did it on his own or whether anyone else had instructed him to do so.
