Mangaluru, Jan 11: The state high court has cancelled a notice issued by the tahsildar of the local taluk, accusing a person of having encroached the government land.

The high court upheld a petition filed by B Devadas from Kavoor Mullakad in the city. Judge of the single judge bench,  Justice S N Satyanarayana, ordered quashing of the notice.

The land in question actually belongs to the petitioner. In the past, there had been plan to acquire this land for laying of the road. Advocate for the government, Kiran Kumar, said that no process had been set into motion to execute this plan.

Lawyer representing the petitioner, Vishwajit Rai, said that the land had been acquired because of vested political interests. He said that issuance of notice was illegal and prayed for its dismissal. The court upheld his request.
