M'lore: Billava Mahila Sangh Organizes ‘One Day of Ashada with Elders’

Mangalore, Jul 28: "These kind of programmes should be held frequently in order to preserve  Tulu Nadu culture and traditions which face the onslaught of western culture, particularly among the new generation," said Navinchandra D Suvarna, president, All India Billava Union, on Sunday July 27.

He was speaking at the inaugural of an unique programme called ‘One day of Ashada in the Company of Elders’ which was organized by the Billava Mahila Sangh, a unit of All India Billava Union, at Dr Giridar Rao and Sanjeevi Bai old age home, Kodialbail.

Sumalata N Suvarna, president of Billava Mahila Sangh, said that the few hours spent in the company of elders increases their zest for living. Sukhalaxmi Y Suvarna, chief secretary of the Sangh, and Revati Ashok, treasurer, were present on the dais.  

Shakilaraj, cultural secretary, compered the programme while Leelavati Heraje, vice-president, proposed the vote of thanks.

The Sangh members entertained elders with cultural events, games, and presented them with mementoes.  They also shared 25 varieties of delicacies that were prepared by Sangh members.
