Mumbai, Feb 28: Billavara Association Mumbai women's wing on Sunday evening February 25 held a discussion programme on women's empowerment, culture and challenges at Santacruz.

Dr Sunita M Shetty, senior littérateur of Mumbai said that women should not weep when they experience injustice but protest and make sure that truth wins. She termed that as women's empowerment.

“This is the first such women's gathering in Mumbai. I have faced life of 62 years in Mumbai as a challenge. My husband's support has made me stamp out the problems and helped me to grow to this extent. There will be life of equality when men confide in women,” said Sunita Shetty.

Several office bearers of the association were present. Association chief secretary Dharmapal G Anchan delivered the keynote address. Women's wing president Shakuntala K Kotian welcomed the gathering, presented mementos to the guests and honored them. Association honorary secretary Ashalatha S Kotian compered the programme. Anitha P Poojary introduced the guests. Groups of women of different organizations presented dances, music, Janapada songs and other entertainment programmes. Women's wing honorary chief secretary Sumitra S Bangera compered the cultural programme.
