Udupi: Computer Studies will Begin from Class VIII Instead of Class IX – Kageri

Udupi, Aug 14: Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, minister for primary and high school education, inaugurated the newly-built government high school, located at Indiranagar, Chitpady, near here on Wednesday August 13. The school was constructed at a cost of Rs 20 lac.

Kageri said that computer education will be introduced in class VIII next academic year instead of the existing Class IX. The state government has been spending huge amounts on education and schools can achieve good results with active participation of local philanthropists, teachers, and parents, he asserted.

Deputy director of public instructions K Anand, Block Education Officer D Manjunatayya, municipal member Pradeep Kundar, Laxmichandrashekar, school headmaster Ganapaty Bhat, zilla panchayat member Upendra Nayak, former MLA U R Sabhapaty, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, and school correspondent W D Salins were present on the dais.

Kageri also inaugurated an educational convention, as well as talent awards and felicitation ceremony of retired teachers which was held at Hotel Kediyoor Wednesday.  The event was organized in association with district high school and pre-university college principals' association and district public instructions department.

The minister also graced the ‘Yaksha Kishora Sangama’, a confluence of child yakshagana artistes held at Sri Krishna Math Rajangan auditorium on Wednesday evening.  Sri Sugunendrateerta Swamiji of Pejavar Math inaugurated the programme.

The Swamiji said that 25 yakshagana teachers of 'Yaksha' troupe will be appointed in 44 schools across Udupi to train child artistes.
