Udupi, Mar 26: “Pramod Madhwaraj is a great politician. Under his leadership Udupi is developing immensely. He is an honest politician,” said AICC member and president of the Udupi assembly constituency Congress campaigning committee Amrith Shenoy at Udupi press club here on March 24.

Speaking to the reporters in press meet, Amrith said, “Former MLA Ragupathi Bhat has made false allegations against Pramod Madhwaraj. Building four lane roads is not the only development. Basic necessities needed for people like water and drainage facility were not met during Ragupathi Bhat’s tenure.

“If BJP had done any good works it would not have been defeated in 2013 elections. Minister Pramod won the last elections with 39,000 votes. District OBC Congress and Congress Social media team are putting great efforts to win all five seats in Udupi. Again this time Congress will win over in all the five constituencies in Udupi. Pramod Madhwaraj has provided pure drinking water facility to every house in Udupi. He won the last elections with huge margin,” he said.

Talking about the rumours of Pramod Madhwaraj joining BJP, Amrith Shenoy said, “Pramod himself has given clarification regarding this issue. We don’t have any confusion among us regarding this. There is no necessity for him to join BJP. We have locked the Congress gate.” Criticizing Raghupati Bhat’s statement that BJP got cheated by Manorama Madhwaraj, Shenoy said, “Minister never cheated any of Congress party workers. He has made us proud. How many of BPL cards and RTCs are given to poor families during his tenure? During the Congress tenure we did not get a situation to supply tanker water through trust. Bhat himself laid the foundation stone for swimming pool after which there was no news of him. Pramod Madhwaraj has been involved in developing stadium and making international level gym.”

“MLA Pramod has completed two rounds of meeting with Congress workers and met booth level workers by conducting Jana samparka sabhe. He has already reached to around 26000 people during his public meeting.”

“He is the only candidate for Udupi from Congress. In fact who is the candidate of BJP from Udupi constituency? There is confusion among the opposition party about their candidate. We have put one name for nomination which does not mean that others do not have eligibility to contest in the election. It is our unanimous choice. There were more than 1000 applications received in 224 constituencies.”

Vishwas Ameen, district Youth Congress president Vignesh Kini, district youth Congress general secretary and district Congress social media team head, Yathish Karkera, district OBC Congress president, NeeraJ Patil, district Congress IT cell vice president were present during the press meet.
