Puttur: Man held for abusing, assaulting, threatening auto rickshaw driver

Puttur, Mar 29: An auto rickshaw driver, on Wednesday March  28, complained to the police, claiming that a motor bike rider had intercepted his vehicle, accused him of not allowing the assailant to  overtake the rickshaw, hurled threats at him besides beating him up. The incident reportedly happened at Darbe here.

Rajesh (30), son of Narayana Poojary from Savanur, was the driver who faced this ordeal. Rajesh got himself admitted into the government hospital here.

It is said that Rajesh was taking two women passengers in his auto rickshaw from near the bus stand in the town towards Darbe when Jabbar from Koornadka in Kemminje village and another person approached him near Aruna Theatre, and quarreled with him, claiming that Rajesh had not given space for them to overtake the three-wheeler. Later they followed the rickshaw in their bike, stopped his vehicle near Darbe, attacked him and posed threats to his life.

The town police, who registered the case, have taken Jabbar into custody for questioning.
