Mumbai: Maharashtra Konkan Association celebrates Easter with Jerry Nite

Mumbai, Apr 2: Maharashtra Konkan Association on Sunday night, April 1 celebrated Easter Sunday at Garden Lawn, Vincent D'Palotti Church, Andheri east.

Late Benedict Rebello was commemorated and Jerry Nite musical evening was held. Vincent D'Palotti Church parish priest Fr Charles Fernandes who was present as chief guest in his Easter message said that programmes such as these are necessary for the preservation of Konkani and culture.

Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra president John D'Silva, Divo weekly magazine editor Lawrence Coelho, film director Harry Fernandes, Barkur, entrepreneurs Rony Goveas, Denis Lobo, John Rebello Sion, Oswald Cordeiro and association president Benedicta B Rebello were present on the dais as guests of honour.



 

Benedict Pascal Rebello who passed away recently after being a lifelong member of Maharashtra Konkan Association was remembered. Association vice president Walter D'Souza Kalmady (Jerimeri), active member John Veigas who is expected back at his hometown soon and child artiste Lavina D'Souza were felicitated. The guests inaugurated Lilly Goveas Charitable Trust, mother organization of home for the aged planned in Murbadgaon, Kalyan by Goveas family members under the leadership of entrepreneur Rony Goveas. Herold Goveas, Hubert Goveas, H A Goveas and Lora Goveas were on the dais.

Association honorary secretary Gregory Monis, joint secretary Prithesh Castelino, joint treasurer Aida Lobo and past zonal president Vincent Castelino, former honorary president Cyril Castelino, Rockey D'Cunha, Stany Dais, Gregory Noddodi and others were present.

Konkani Balaga Amboli Women's Wing presented a welcome dance. Association founder president Leo Fernandes Jerimeri welcomed and commemorated the services of late Benedict Pascal Rebello. Association members presented flower bouquets to the guests and honoured them. Suzan L Coelho and Flora D'Souza Kalmady read the list of felicities. Stephan Lobo compered the programme, introduced the guests and thanked.

Jerry D'Souza, Antony Tauro, Jerry Bondel, Joyston, Judy Jerimeri, Manuel Fernandes, Shalet Castelino, Viran Veigas, Roshni Crasta, Bellita, Avin D'Costa, Levin Leo Fernandes and other singers sang songs. Raja Rejendra Group provided melodious music. Floyd D'Mello compered the entertainment programme of music, farce and dances.

    It was a super hit show. Musicians did really wonderful job. Good melodious singing from singers. Such a huge crowd. Thanks to Maharashtra konkan Association Leo Fernandes and Sangati creations. Good response from the gathering. Solid team work. Jai Konkani, Jai Mumbai.
