Mangalore, Aug 27: Even the little hope which was there that Renvick Aranha who had been engulfed by Shambhavi waters would come back safe, faded away after his body was found near Hejmady Kadavinabagilu near Mulky in the early hours of Wednesday August 27.
As reported earlier in these columns, Renvick had drowned in Shambhavi river on Monday August 25 evening while having bath. Though extensive search operations by fire brigade personnel and local expert swimmers were launched later on, his body was not found for more than 30 hours. This had even rekindled hopes that Renvick might still be safe. Since there was no whirlpool near Swamil Kudru and Shambhavi waters did not posses strong currents, there were enough reasons to believe that Renvick might come back safe.
Swimming in Shambhavi waters was not a new adventure to Renvick. His family sources said that he was good at swimming. It was almost routine task for him to take bath in Shambhavi river during the monsoons. Moreover, on Monday evening, there were no rains and hence no flood waters with strong currents too. The only thing which might have spelt doom to Renvick was that the river had gained depth following sand mining in the area.
Now that Renvick's body has been fished out, all those little dreams his family had in him have been shattered. No one can console his parents and siblings who have been witness to this cruel twist of fate.
Mulky police sources said that his body was found around 6 am on Wednesday. It has been now sent for autopsy to the local government hospital.
