Mumbai: Kannada department of Mumbai University holds Janapada Sambhrama

Mumbai, Apr 9: The Kannada department of Mumbai University on Saturday afternoon April 7 held a programme on ancient Janapada art and released a book on the subject at Santacruz east.

The programme was chaired by head of the department of Kannada Mumbai University, Dr G N Upadhya. Billavara Association Mumbai president Nithyananda D Kotian, Kannadiga Patrakartara sangha Maharashtra president Chandrashekar Palethady and Kannada department assistant professor Dr Poornima S Shetty were on the dais.



Janapada artiste Dr Appagere Thimmaraju delivered a lecture on survival of Janapada art. He also released a book titled 'Janapada Jawari' written by Janapada artiste Siddappa Bidari. Kannada department visiting professor Dr Jeevi Kulkarni introduced the book. The guests later felicitated Appagere Thimmaraju, social worker Mudradi Diwaker Shetty and Sripada Padaki, Navi Mumbai.

Sushila S Devadiga sang a welcome song. Nalina Prasad welcomed everyone, introduced the guests and compered the programme. Somashekar Malthi Patil proposed the vote of thanks.
