Udupi, Apr 17: A senior citizen from Hejamady Guddeyangadi near Padubidri, who was frustrated at his repeated failure to get changes in his Aadhar card incorporated even after visiting different offices, finally wrote to the office of the Prime Minister. His letter was attended and he has succeeded in getting his modified Aadhar card at his doorsteps.

Mohan K Suvarna (77), resident of Natti House in Hejamady Guddeyangadi, a retired employee of Maharashtra State Electricity Board, lived in Mumbai for several years even after his retirement. He got his Aadhar card done there. After returning to his native place from Mumbai and settling down here five years back, he wanted to record changes in his address, cellphone number etc in his Aadhar card. Suvarna says he visited several places including the Nemmadi Kendra in Kaup and post office at Karnad to get the changes done. He also went to Aadhar centre at Bannanje in the city to get the changes incorporated but failed to get things done.

Finally, he wrote to the office of the Prime Minister, explaining the problems he has been facing in getting updated Aadhar card. The office of the Prime Minister followed up the issue and saw that the Aadhar card was delivered at Suvarna's doorsteps.

After he wrote to the Prime Minister's office on September 12, 2017, Suvarna got reply within ten days. He was told that suitable letter had been addressed to the concerned. On March 22 this year, a letter was sent to Suvarna from Unique Identification Authority of India's Bengaluru office, informing that his new cellphone number had been linked with his Aadhar card on March 21. He also was told over phone that officials of Aadhar centre in Bannanje here would be contacting him soon.

About a month back, officials of Aadhar centre, Bannanje visited the house of Suvarna along with certain equipment, collected details and attended to the work of matching of finger prints. Mohan's wife, Vasanthi Suvarna, got new Aadhar card with changed details 15 days back, and Mohan got his own card on Monday, April 16.
