Bangalore: Around 500 Schools Face Closure in State

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Sep 5: Primary and secondary education minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri announced here that the government is seriously considering shutting down around 500 schools in the state, where the number of students is five or less. About 120 of these schools are in Tumkur district alone, he explained.

Appointing teachers and running a school with a handful of students is not worth the effort and cost. The students affected by such closures will be shifted to the nearest schools. If such schools are located away, the government will pay transport allowance to the students, he informed.

The minister also spelt out a health insurance scheme covering over two lac teachers upto to PU level in the state, by meeting a major portion of the premium on its own. A small sum towards the premium will be collected from the respective teachers, he said. The department has drawn up elaborate plans of building around 300 schools, renovating over 1,300 schools which are in poor condition and providing power connection to over 15,000 schools, he added.

Kageri defended the action of the department in serving notices to schools which closed down for a day in protest against the atrocities being committed on Christian communities in Orissa, saying that the government, which is extending aid and other facilities to these institutions, naturally expects them to stick to rules and obtain permission before taking up agitational programmes. The schools cannot be allowed to become rallying points for the whims of the managements, he reasoned.

V.H.Kageri should be thrown out of that post.Instead of uniting the people of India, the Bjp want to destroy this place.Instead of winning the hearts of the people, they are bringing hatred for themselves.Hope this BJp government does not last. They are ruining the country.

What are we Hindus doing?are'nt there good educated people besides the christians who can fight against these people. The young should revolt against such people and kick them out of this place.God should open his eyes now and confine these evil people to bed.

In Mumbai Raj Thackeray thinks he owns mumbai. Bring down the BJP.we do not need leaders like this. Why is Raghupati Bhatt not caught for getting his wife killed.who pushed her to commit suicide? They can do what they want because they have power?is this justice?

Though I do not know the hidden agenda of this statement of closing 500 schools by our honourable Education minister, I only hope he meant only those schools which are not viable to keep open due to the reasons given by him.

But if this rule is applied keeping religious sentiments then he is doing the biggest blunder and with which the image of his own party at the cross roads. I hope Kharge knows well what is he doing and if he does not then he bringss his own party's curtains down. And I blame Yeddyurappa because nothing will be done without his knowledge.

Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri has some hidden agenda to close 500 schools. His threats to take action on Christian-run institutes is biased. When the Sang parivar comes on the street for reason such a Amarnath issue and calls for a bund why didn’t Kageri take action against them?

Many times for a simple reason such as assaulting their party workers or fights the politicians call protests by closing all shops, schools hospitals and sometimes the entire city being kept at siege by these crooked politicians.

Where was Kageri that time? Why he wants to take action when the Christian run schools were kept closed for one day to protest the heinous crimes committed by the fanatics and the fundamentalist? Why Kageri is venting his venom and hatred towards Christians unnecessarily.?

This minister is biased. No doubt he is a member of ruling communual BJP government. He is reflecting the ideology and agenda of his government and party. O wise people of Karnataka, please be aware of these politicians at least in the forthcoming elections.

May be the minister himself is jealous of all the persons who are getting educated atleast till 7th standard and wants to build a vote army of illiterates. Instead of closing down the schools, provide more facilities like free lunch, may be boarding etc to the backward children and help them come up in life. Anyways there is no use is paying the teachers to do "BENCHU BISI". Utilize their knowledge for some better purposes.

Kageri, I think you are not a education minister for the whole state , by your actions it looks like you are Minister of state for Primary and secondary education for Hindu and govt schools. I think as a Hindu, I should seek to convert myself to other religion. Because over community is having a very bad name due to people like you and your terrorist groups like VHP, BD, RSS etc. Its shame on us that we also became terrorist in a huge progress. THOOOO NIN mukhaka

Mr.Education Minister,by showing anger over the christian institutions, you are digging your own grave. Make the coffin ready. By the way which school your chidren are going? If it is christian school, then remove them from those school and admit them some corporation school.

When State Govt observed BUNDH for Amarnath issue why didnt you take action against the state staff? Are you fooling or playing with Christian community? We voted BJP for the better future to the State, not for you like communalism people to seed poison in religion.

This shows the quality of this minister. Instead of motivating the villagers to send their children to school, this so called minister planning to close down the schools. Probably he is going to use the structure for vegetable vending. If we have a minister like him in power, can we ever expect 100% literacy? Never! That’s what they want.

In Govrnment Schools teachers seldom work in classes, they are always on duty of either Election, Census this or that and sometime taking for personal matters naming it as Government entrusted duty. Even in the Schools they have more duty of 'Dasoha bisiyoota', this and that reports to Education Authorities etc. As a result, pupils suffer or there is meagre percentage of pass in examinations. Hence The Government should seriously think of closing all Government Schools and leave the Education to Private.

Mr. Kageri, you have a precedent by serving notice to the Christian institutions for observing bundh on August 29th to show solidarity with the suffering Christians in Orissa. Now remember to serve such notices whenever your "family"calls for bundh and forcefully makes others to close down. You are puppet in the hands of your saffron family.

Kageri is defending the action of notice to Christian institutions which observed a one day shut down to protest the atrocities comitted of the christian communities, this point is to be noted for the future if any such case happens on Hindu community and if non christian educational institutions shut down a that time this same action has to taken.

These actions nothing but is dividing the country and people furthe on the basis of religion which is not correct.Rather all these politicians should work together to bring the culprits to justice.
