Mangaluru: Siblings jump into well, rescued by locals

Mangaluru, Apr 28: In an incident that happened at Thare Thota in the city, a 23-year-old young woman and her younger brother jumped into a well. Fortunately, both were rescued by the locals.

It is learnt that both the young lady and her brother live in a rented house at Thare Thota. At around 4.30 pm on Friday April 27 the young lady jumped into the nearby 25-feet deep well. Her younger brother also jumped in to rescue her. Neighbours rushed to the rescue immediately and lowered a rope and ensured that both of them do not get drowned. Local skilled experts got down into the well and brought both of them out.

Officer and staff of Kadri fire service station and police from Kadri and Kankanady police stations of the city rushed to the spot on receiving the information. Howwever, the locals had rescued both brother and sister before their arrival.

The young lady has injured her leg in the act and is admitted into a hospital. The reason for the lady's act is not clear. It is learnt that both siblings are giving confusing statements saying that they owe money to the nearby grocer and that is why they jumped into the well.

No case is registered at the police station on this regard.
