Moodbidri: Three-day NSS Camp on Tulunadu Folklore Begins

Moodbidri, Sep 6: Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alvas Education Foundation, inaugurated a three-day National Social Service (NSS) camp, at Sri Bhuvanendra College on Friday September 5. The camp has been organized by the college in association with the Mangalore University (MU) NSS unit.

He inaugurated the camp enacting the role of a traditional ‘patri’ and conveyed his best wishes to the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Alva said that NSS students should take an interest in folklore.



Dr H Shantharam, administrative officer, Manipal Academy of General Education, said that  NSS members should make the best use of the camp in nurturing the ancient tradition and culture of Tulunadu. Hariprasad Shetty, NSS officer, Kodagu district, and Prof B Padmanabha Gowda, principal,  Sri Bhuvanendra College, were also present.

Prof Gopal, NSS officer, MU, delivered the introductory speech. NSS officer Shubhakar Acharya, and Chaitra Shenoy, compered the programme. Nityanand Gaonkar, NSS officer, Udupi district, proposed the vote of thanks. NSS students will be trained in the distinct Tulunadu folklore of 'aati kadenja' and others, at the camp.
