Kundapur, Sep 6: "I have already discussed with the officials of the National Highways Authority of India and asked them to repair the national highways in the state, which are in a deplorable condition," state home minister Dr V S Acharya said.

Speaking after conducting survey of the proposed site for the mini Vidhana Soudha here on the evening of Friday September 5, Acharya said that a sum of two crore rupees has been sanctioned for the construction of mini Vidhan Soudha in the government site opposite the office of the assistant commissioner here, and works will start soon. All the revenue department offices will be shifted to the new Vidhan Soudha and the present taluk office will pave way for a new building in which the two local police stations along with the office of the deputy commissioner of police will be housed, he said.

After conducting the survey, it is felt that the proposed mini Vidhan Soudha might require more funds. The government will meet additional requirement of grants for the purpose, he said. The suggestions given by local MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty will be taken into account while executing the Vidhan Soudha plans, he explained.

"Even though the government has completed 100 days in power, we got only 39 financial days. Within this period, the state government has done lot of work including setting up of knowledge commission headed by veteran scientist Kasturi Rangan. We will aim at total and balanced development of the state," he added.
