Kundapur, May 3: Udupi district Raitha morcha in a direct dialogue with prime minister Narendra Modi here on May 2 has brought to the notice of the PM the problems faced by them.

In a direct dialogue with the prime minister, Udupi district BJP Raitha Morcha vice president Pravin Kumar Shetty informed that the only sugar factory in the coastal region in Brahmavar is closed and farmers are not able to grow sugarcane as an alternative crop. “Paddy cultivation is not possible in more than 35 villages in Udupi because of Antaragange weeds.” They requested the prime minister to resume operations for the sugar factory.

“Farmers are facing problems of weeds as the state government has not taken action even after sending a report on it. Therefore, suitable solutions need to be worked out,” they said.

Udupi district Raitha Morcha chief secretary Raghavendra Uppooru, Dheeraj, Satyaraj Beerthi and Umesh Shetty were present.
