Bengaluru: BBMP commissioner transferred at election commission's behest

Bengaluru, May 4: N Manjunath Prasad, functioning as commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, has been shifted out of his office. In his place, M Maheshwar Rao, secretary in the department of agriculture, has been posted.

The state government issued these transfer orders on Thursday, May 3, under the directions of the election commission. Maheshwar Rao has been directed to take over charge of the new office within 24 hours of the issuance of orders.

Manjunath Prasad has not yet been given information about the venue and post relating to his new responsibility so far. Sources in election commission stated that Prasad was transferred in the interests of holding transparent and free poll, as Mallesh Babu, brother of Prasad's wife, has been put up by JD(S) as its candidate in Bangarpet constituency.
