Puttur: 'BJP has lost moral right to seek votes' - D K Shivakumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, May 4: "When in power in the state, BJP failed to undertake any developmental initiatives. It cheated the people on the promises it made in the past. Now it has been seeking support from the people of Karnataka by putting forward the promise of development. This party has lost moral right to seek votes from the people," said state energy minister, D K Shivakumar.

He was speaking at the Congress campaign programme organized at Kumbra in the taluk on Wednesday May 2. He stated that even when D V Sadananda Gowda from the taluk was the chief minister of Karnataka, he had failed to do any developmental work. "Gowda could have at least laid a couple of foundation stones, but he even failed to do that. BJP has been indulging in wedging a divide between the people on the basis of caste and religion. It banks on fraud and lies and it tries to create communal hatred," he stated.

Shivakumar claimed that as per the survey conducted by his party, Congress will bag about 135 seats. "BJP has realized that it cannot come to power. Therefore, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has been extending his hand of friendship towards Deve Gowda," he analyzed.

Cine actor, Sadhu Kokila, felt that Congress alone can ensure harmonious coexistence in the country so that people can live like siblings. He urged people to bring Congress to power again.

Congress candidate from this constituency, Shakuntala Shetty, block Congress president, Muhammed Badagannur, Congress leader, Krupa Alva, district youth Congress president, Mithun Rai and several other dignitaries were present.
