Bengaluru: Sandalwood stars add colour to election campaigning

Bengaluru, May 6: With just a handful of days remaining for Karnataka assembly elections, the campaign heat is accelerating in addition to the already simmering heat of summer. The entry of Sandalwood stars to the election campaign has added more colour to the election-related activity.

Darshan, Sudeep and Yash have already begun campaigning. However, they are not campaigning for any specific political party. They have already stated that they are campaigning based on the personality of the candidate and not the party to which he or she belongs. Accordingly, the three stars have been campaigning for their favourite candidates since two days.

Darshan says that the candidate is more important than the principles of his or her political party. He campaigned for chief minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday May 6 at the Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysuru by participating in a roadshow. He urged the people to vote for Siddaramaiah this time too and made it clear to the public as to why they should vote for the current chief minister.

"Everyone faces difficulties in life, but the biggest virtue I have seen in Siddaramaiah is that he does not get distressed even in the worst scenario. When his loving son Rakesh died suddenly, he held himself together as a true man and mourned only for ten days and began working for the people of Karnataka, who voted him to power in the last assembly elections. Hats off to him for this people-oriented attitude," said Darshan.

Yash campaigned for BJP candidate Sathish Reddy of Bommanahalli constituency and Ramdas of K R constituency on Friday May 4. On Saturday May 5, Yash campaigned for Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, BJP candidate for Sirsi constituency. Yash said, "I am not favouring or supporting any particular political party. I am with a good candidate, irrespective of his or her political affiliation."

Actor Sudeep also has begun his campaigning. There was a rumour that Sudeep will campaign for chief minister Siddaramaiah in Badami constituency. However, Sudeep had tweeted that he is going to campaign for the CM in the constituency of Chamundeshwari and not Badami. He said that he will not campaign against Sriramulu of BJP as he is known to him for several years. Sudeep also wished Sriramulu all the best.

About the chief minister, Sudeep said, "Chief minister is the same as before. He has treated us with respect. That is why I am going to campaign for him. I am not in favour of any party. Raju Gowda of BJP is also my friend. I will campaign for him as well."
