Bangalore: 100-day Rule - BJP Challenges Opposition for Open Debate

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Sep 9: The BJP, strongly repulsing the efforts of the opposition parties to project its 100-day rule as an abysmal failure, has challenged the opposition parties to come forward for an open debate on the issue.

BJP spokesperson Dhananjay Kumar criticized both the Congress and the JD (S) for trying to propagate that the BJP-led state government has done nothing during its three-month rule. The people know what both these parties had done when in power. "If they have the courage and conviction on the issue, let them give concurrence for an open debate. We will explain our achievements with the help of facts and figures. In fact, we are prepared for the debate on the dais of our 100-day celebrations scheduled for Tuesday September 9," Dhananjay stated.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday September 8, he said that the Congress which ruled the state for long did not achieve anything noteworthy. The opposition is raising heckles, as the parties are unable to digest the achievements of the BJP, he claimed.

He cited the government's decision to extend subsidy for organic-based cultivation, formation of commissions for industrial development, skill development, agricultural mission, knowledge commission etc., as proof of its pro-people initiatives. At a time when the union government failed to supply chemical fertilizers, the state government provided Rs 150 crore through bank loan and solved the problem, he explained.

In a revolutionary initiative, the state government has signed an agreement with the Chattisgarh government for the setting of 1,200 mw power generation unit in that state. The achievements of the 100-day-old government have far surpassed the achievements of the previous governments, he claimed.

The Congress leaders, who have played a major role in the land scam, are criticizing BJP for the sake of saving their waning charisma. The Congress in the state, which is moving like a rudderless ship, is heading towards debacle, he ridiculed. He also charged the JD (S) of having been an equal partner in grabbing of land.  Ex-minister H D Revanna has committed serious irregularities in land deals in the name of his wife Bhavani, he said. As regards scores of transfers affected by the government, Kumar defended the same, by saying that these transfers have not adversely affected any one.
