Bengaluru, May 20: JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy will be chief minister for the full term and there will not be any sharing of CM responsibilities between the JD(S) and Congress on a rotational basis as there was during JD(S)-BJP coalition in 2004, a JD(S) MLA had said.
Amid speculations about the two alliance partners sharing the CM chair, Puttaraju, JD(S) MLA of Melukote cleared the air and said, "Leaders from both the parties have made the rule for sharing of power and there is no possibility of sharing the reigns like T20 for 30 months each. Kumaraswamy will be the chief minister of Karnataka for the full term of five years.
"Congress has offered unconditional support to JD (S). So there is no opportunity of spreading any rumours. The distribution of portfolios of ministers is already being discussed."
How will the power be shared?
A joint 'Samanvaya Samiti' will be formed for the implementation of the common minimum programme and also for the smooth functioning of the government. There is a possibility that this committee will be led by former CM Siddaramaiah. H D Kumaraswamy has assured the Congress leaders that he will take up this issue with H D Deve Gowda, president of the JD (S).
There is a possibility that JD (S) will get 14 ministerial berths along with the chief ministership and Congress will get one deputy chief minister and 20 ministerial positions. It is learnt that there is pressure from the Congress party to create two deputy CM (DCM) position and the possibility of Parameshwar, KPCC president, becoming the DCM is very high.
It is learnt that Deve Gowda has agreed to the sharing of portfolios with Congress as they have offered H D Kumaraswamy to continue as the chief minister for the full term of five years. It is learnt that excepting the portfolios like finance and energy, the JD (S) has agreed to give away other important portfolios to Congress. The sharing of the power of chairman of corporation boards will be decided proportionate to the number of MLAs both the parties are holding.
